If they had their way they would raise the price of gasoline and reap the profit. I don’t see how Bush can argue that Kerry would raise taxes on gasoline. Everyone knows that 15 years back the environmentalists floated an idea to follow the European model of making people pay taxes to pay for roads and the environmental impact of burning gasoline. There wasn’t any political will in the US to follow this wise foresight into the future. Instead, the American way of taking all you can and making future generations pay for the problems won out. Obviously the Democrats would not raise taxes on gasoline. These are just more scare tactics of the Bush intellectual crowd. posted by: Scully77 (reply) post date: 04.01.04 (4:26 am) Bush is definitely taking cheap shots at Kerry for the gasoline comment. Seems to me, Clinton had to do something about the price of gas when he was just about out of office...(??) I don't know, but I tell you, something needs to be done about the price of gas. Not just where I live, but everywhere in the U.S. It' just ridiculous! There are going to be people who need it, but can't afford it, before too long. People shouldn't have to make a choice of eating, buying meds, and NOW, buying gas. It sucks to hear of states passing laws where you can lose your drivers' license if you don't pay for your gas. Kansas passed that law a few years ago, right after gas started going up. Like I said, it's really sad because you know there are people who need it, but can't afford it. |
